Peter lived with his family at Woodside, now 29 Queen Street. Peter’s mother had died when he was young, and his father had remarried. There were two younger brothers, as well as three older siblings.
Peter had joined the Black Watch at the start of the war, and in 1915 he experienced heavy fighting in both Belgium and France. By the summer of 1916 he was in the Battle of the Somme when his nerves failed him and he was shot as a deserter on 18th September 1916. He is buried in Les Trois Arbres cemetery in northern France.
