Maxwell, Private David Kenneth, 6th Seaforth Highlanders
He had attended Dundee High School, and then worked with T H B Rorie, Chartered Accountants, in Dundee. The family home was at Westmount, 12 Mount Stewart Road, Wormit.
He was killed at Ypres, Belgium on 31st July 1917 at the age of 21. His body was never found, so his name is on the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing in Ypres, Belgium, along with nearly 55,000 others. These are the men who have no grave, who were lost in the fighting, only in the Ypres area and only in the first three years of the war. David was a victim of the Battle of Passchendaele, the wettest and muddiest of the war. He is also remembered on the memorial in Dundee High School.
