Maryton Inn, Built 1820s
The village of Maryton, to the east of Newport village, developed from the 1820s onwards, and the Maryton Inn (now 12 Tay Street) was established to operate as a coaching inn, with extensive stabling behind. It was unfortunately too far from the main turnpike road (Cupar Road) to be successful and in 1830 was sold for conversion to housing.
