The houses in Mars Gardens have been built but not in Woodhaven Avenue, which dates it to 1930s. There was a large army camp up here at Highfield during World War I. In the inter-war years the scene would change with the building of Mars Gardens and Woodhaven Avenue. The Newport railway line can also be seen, crossing the bridge over Flass Road.
