Samuel (Sam) Guttridge was music teacher and organist at St Thomas' Church for some 30 years from the 1920s until the 1950s. He lived in Kilnburn. Here we have a leaflet giving details of his arrangements for music lessons both in Dundee and Newport.
Newport Parish Church (St Thomas') held a four-day fund-raising Grand Bazaar in Kinnaird Hall in Dundee. The aim was to raise money to extend the church, build a manse and install an organ. A total of £4,500 was raised and all three improvements carried out. Read the bazaar programme.

A poster advertising a weekend of events in celebration of the church's 150th anniversary. The church had opened in 1870 so in fact the celebrations were three years late, with all events having been delayed by the Covid pandemic.

Rev Robert Howieson, minister of St Thomas' Church from 1951 until 1978. Rev Howieson also served as Newport's last provost from 1974 until local government reorganisation in 1975.
