Commemoration Laburnum Trees: Items Made to Commemorate Royal Visit Two laburnum trees were planted at Woodhaven by Willie Rankine to commemorate the visit to Woodhaven of King Haakon VII in 1944. One died in 2004 and the wood was used by local wood turners to make commemorative items to be given to visiting Norwegians and locals to preserve the links with Norway. Items shown ... RAF Standard flown at Woodhaven 1942 - 1945 The RAF Standard was flown at Woodhaven throughout the time the Norwegians were based there. They took it back to the Military Aircraft Museum in Bodo. it was subsequently returned to Wormit on 22 September 1999 and now hangs in Wormit Parish Hall, having been conserved by Jan Winch. Lady Bluebell Walker Lady Bluebell Walker, whose husband Sir William Walker was serving in the forces, provided a place of rest and recreation for the Norwegian servicemen at Sandford House. Catalina Model with 333 Squadron Visitors This model of 'Vingtor', the first Catalina PBY flown by 333 Squadron, was made by John McCulloch of Dundee Model Aeroplane Club. It was brought to Woodhaven by John to the 60th anniversary of VE Day in 2005 on the occasion of a visit by 333 Squadron.
