From the late 1870s William Doig had chemist shops both in Newport and in Dundee (as the bottle says). He eventually gave up the Dundee shop in the early 1900s which gives a date for the ... Kerr the Chemist Tin. This tin, now containing nails, is 60 years old and was found in Hugh Ritchie's garage over 500 miles away in Canterbury! The previous contents had been dispensed in 1962 by David Kerr the Chemist at the Pierhead.
