A very early view of an immaculate Wormit station.
A painting by Helen Wallace of the railway bridge over Cupar Road just before the small turn-off leading up to dual carriageway. The bridge carried the line from East Newport into Tayfield estate, and it was demolished in 1980s.

Model of East Newport Railway Station created for 2016 Old Newport Exhibition. Spot the level crossing, footbridge, phone box, station building, railway carriage on platform, two coal merchants, sidings, signal box and up platform shelter. A very realistic representation!
An amusing little newspaper snippet. Willie Rankine was a frequent newspaper contributor on matters of local history. William Dowie, referred to in the article, was railway porter from 1890 until the 1920s. At a guess the article might date from the 1970s.
Lovely view towards the rail bridge from the hill above Woodhaven. Just off centre is the old Wormit School. In the inter-war years the scene would change with the building of Mars Gardens and Woodhaven Avenue. The Newport railway line can also be seen, crossing the bridge over Flass Road.
The viaduct that carried the railway line through the Tayfield EstateĀ comprised four spans on three columns. It was removed soon after the line closed. A lovely clear photograph of East Newport station and the view towards the rail bridge, taken before the footbridge was erected in 1902. There is still much open space on either side of Station Road, and in the distance the Mars training ship can be seen.
