Forgan Arts Centre

Since Forgan School closed in the early 1970s the building has been used as an Arts Centre. This has proved a wonderful amenity for Newport and has provided a great range of day and evening classes. These have included painting and drawing, pottery, upholstery, furniture restoration, stained glasswork, knitting, sewing and other needlework, bridge, photography and even cycle maintenance.

Our final photograph shows a visit to Forgan by John Grant who was a presenter on the hugely popular children’s television programme Jackanory. He drew pictures for an enthralled group of children at a book exhibition.
