Tay Bridge Construction: Above Tayport Road
Tay Road Bridge under construction viewed from above the Tayport road. Cranes, temporary bridge and the first pillars are all visible. Closer to the photographer, the access road up to the roundabout is taking shape. Wondering whether the large stone almost central in the picture, close to the road and to the left of the black hole, is a burgh boundary stone. Certainly, according to the OS maps of 1894 and 1912, there was a boundary stone in almost exactly that position. No doubt it was a casualty of the upheaval of the bridge construction.
