Steele and Brodie Advertisement c. 1920s
Advertisement for sheds and poultry houses made by Steele and Brodie. In the inter-war years the company branched out into offering other joinery work. However from the 1930s bee-keeping as a hobby grew in popularity and the company concentrated on their bee-keeping supplies. During World War II and the immediate post-war years there was a further surge in bee-keeping. Part of the reason for this was that bee-keepers were allowed an extra sugar ration.
