Regatta at Woodhaven 1930s
Rather blurred views of a well attended event at Woodhaven pier. In the early 1930s, after the Mars training ship had left, Wormit Boating Club held some regattas here. For the Boating club, the Mars sheds and pier at Woodhaven would have been ideal for their purposes – plenty space for spectators at events such as this, and for boat storage. However the property was at that time too expensive and instead the Boating Club built their clubhouse at Bay Road under the railway bridge. Wormit Boating Club would indeed eventually move to Woodhaven, but not until 1969.
