Boat Brae Before and After
Boat Brae parade of shops. These lovely buildings, opened in 1878, had by 2010 fallen into a terrible state of disrepair. Our Before and After photographs show the buildings before and after the amazing restoration by David and Liz Anderson who own the adjoining pier buildings. A superb example of a building brought back from the brink.

Besides other shops close to the Newport Ferry pier, the Italian family Rizza owned a shop selling their own ice-cream a ittle way up the main road. Their sons Philip & Charlie were members of the 34th Fife Scouts. Both feature and are named in the photograph of a summer camp under Scoutmaster Hugh Muir
